What is this workshop?

This is a 2-hour workshop that focuses on understanding the differences between operational and development value streams. Our goal is to give you the foundation and know how to better understand how your organization delivers value so you can visualize operations from idea to fulfillment.

Anyone who wants to improve the way their organization delivers value! From Portfolio and Product leadership to Program Management, if you are interested in visualizing and maximizing flow, this foundational workshop is for you.

What are Value Streams?

An Operational Value Stream identifies and visualizes the sequence of activities that your Customer will go through before receiving value from you.

Before your Customer can receive value, an internal flow of work from need to fulfillment must be completed. 

A Development Value Stream identifies and visualizes the steps and processes needed to support that flow of value for your Product, Service, or Solution that your Customer needs.   

What is the Purpose of this workshop?

The Operational Value Stream Mapping foundation walks through the process for first identifying Operational Value Stream(s) – Customer flow from need to fulfillment. By visualizing your Customer’s flow of value from needs to fulfillment, you can quickly determine if you are optimized or if you have the opportunity to improve your delivery flow. 

We want to be able to answer these questions:  Are working on the right outcomes, at the right time, with the right people to excite and delight our Customers?   

The Development Value Stream Mapping Workshop walks through the process for first identifying a Development Value Stream – internal flow from ideation to release. Deeply understand the processes or steps you are taking from ideation to release for your Product, Service, or Solution, you can quickly determine if you are optimized or if you have the opportunity to improve your delivery flow.

We want to be able to answer these questions: Do we have long lead times? Do we have low throughput? Do we have redundancies? Do we have legacy processes in place that are no longer required to deliver? 

What Outcomes Can I Expect?

We will provide you with concepts, tools and tactics to identify efficiencies and create recommendations for optimizing your flows to deliver the highest amount of value with the lowest amount of spend (time, resources, money, etc.).
